IOSH [The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health] was founded in 1945.  It is the major professional body representing individual safety and health practitioners in the UK.  The fundamental purpose of the Institution is to promote the safety, health and well-being of people at work, and people affected by work activities.

The IOSH Health and Safety for Supervisors Course


The IOSH Health and Safety for Supervisors Course is a two day course designed for people in supervisory, team leader, chargehands, leading hands, etc. positions in all types of organisations, who need an understanding of health and safety at work.  This course is more in depth than an IOSH Working Safely, [1 day] course, but not as
in-depth as an IOSH Managing Safely course.

The aim is to give supervisors, etc. a working knowledge of health and safety, with a specific focus on two relevent areas of legislation. These two relevent areas of legislation can be varied to make sure that the course provides maximium benefit to the clients students and organisation.

~ Health and Safety Legislation      
~ Hazard Identification           
~ Risk Assessment
~ Active Monitoring           
~ Desiging for Safety
~ Human Behaviour
~ A focus on two specific areas of legisation of clients choice [e.g. Fire safety and Manual Handling]


Assessment:


There is two parts to the assessment for this course.  The first is a question paper which covers the whole range of the course subjects and the second is a written project.  An IOSH Certificate will be awarded to successful  candidates.

Programme:        

The open course programme runs for 2 days.  For in-house courses the days do not need to be consecutive.
