----------- NEWS ----------
The HSE rules are changing on the 1st October 2009 for FAW and Appointed Persons courses due to a HSE review, and I wanted to make sure I sent you the right information.
The current rules can be found here http://www.hse.gov.uk/firstaid/index.htm, and are summarised in the attached manual HSE Manual.
The changes are summarised on the following two webpage’s:
http://www.hse.gov.uk/firstaid/review/trainingfaq.htm
http://www.hse.gov.uk/firstaid/review/jun08implement.htm
These rules changes mean that to teach FAW and Emergency First Aider [which is the new appointed person’s course] a tutor needs to work for an accredited company to get the necessary experience before they can set up on their own. You need to have taught for 2-3 years, doing a minimum of 6 courses a year, to gain the necessary experience to apply for your own accreditation.
To meet these requirements we are working with a company called First Training Solutions, which is included as part of the training package that we offer. You can teach under their auspices to gain this experience.
The body responsible for the FAW and Emergency First Aider are FAAMS, which is a section of the HSE
